MULTI-REGIONAL HYPOTHESIS

This theory explains recent human variation as a product of the early-to-Middle Pleistocene radiation of Homo erectus out of Africa and into different regions of the Old World, where these distinct populations gradually evolved into the modern populations found in those regions today.

For this theory to be correct, all populations of Homo erectus would have had to maintain some gene flow at the periphery of populations, and at the same time allowing regional differences to develop.
